Join a club, get a licence

To race a sanctioned event in Mpumalanga you need Cycling South Africa membership and, for most categories, a racing licence. Membership is handled by Cycling SA nationally, not by the union. The union affiliates you at provincial level.

Three steps to a licence

Club first, then Cycling SA, then the licence. A racing licence requires membership of an affiliated club.

  1. Join a club

    Do this first. A racing licence requires membership of a club affiliated to Cycling SA, so club membership is a requirement, not an extra. It is also how most riders find training partners, lifts to races, and a place in a provincial team.

  2. Register with Cycling SA

    Register on the Cycling South Africa membership page and choose Mpumalanga as your province. A provincial affiliation fee for Mpumalanga applies on top of the national membership fee; Cycling SA publishes the current amounts.

  3. Request your licence

    Apply for the racing licence through Cycling SA, naming your club. Your member record, results and rankings live on the same portal, and your digital membership card is accepted at events nationwide.

Who needs a licence

  • Provincial and national racing: licence required. Cross-country, marathon, enduro, road and track all sit under Cycling SA.
  • Schools racing runs through the schools structures. A school rider entering provincial or national events still needs Cycling SA membership.

What the union does not do

  • Issue memberships or licences. That is Cycling SA.
  • Take race entries. Each organiser takes its own, usually through Entry Ninja.
  • Sign you up to a club. Contact the club directly from the register below.
